Zero added sugar chocolate, explained

Zero added sugar means no sugar was added during manufacturing. It does not mean the chocolate contains no sugar at all, because ingredients such as nuts, grains and cacao can contain small amounts of naturally occurring sugars.
Added sugar versus total sugar
Total sugar on a nutrition table includes natural sugars and added sugars together. The words added sugar tell you what the maker put in. A zero added sugar chocolate can still list a small number of grams of total carbohydrate from its ingredients.
How zero added sugar chocolate stays enjoyable
