The facts

Chocolate facts and benefits: what is really in it

Dark chocolate and plant forward ingredients such as nuts, millets and quinoa bring fibre, minerals, protein and fats that most sweets lack. Chocolate is still energy dense, so portion matters. AORAH prints every ingredient and nutrition figure on the pack so you can decide with facts, not adjectives.

What each ingredient brings

  • Cacao: fibre, minerals and natural theobromine
  • Cacao butter: the smooth melt, and no dairy despite the name
  • Pea protein: dairy free protein for the 36% bar
  • Millets and quinoa: whole grain crunch, with quinoa carrying all nine essential amino acids
  • Hazelnut: monounsaturated fat and vitamin E, plus warmth

Why dark chocolate gets so much attention

Cacao is rich in naturally occurring flavanols. The European Food Safety Authority has assessed cocoa flavanols in relation to normal blood flow, at a daily intake of 200 mg from products specially labelled for flavanol content. AORAH does not state flavanol content, so we make no such claim. We mention it because honest context builds trust.

What chocolate cannot do

It is not a medicine, a supplement or a meal replacement. It is energy dense, so a small portion eaten slowly is the sensible way to enjoy it. If you manage a health condition, follow the advice of your doctor or dietitian.

Why we print the numbers

The 62% Signature Blend lists 272 kcal, 4.2 g protein and 6.4 g fibre per 50 g. The 36% Protein lists 268 kcal, 6.8 g protein and 5.6 g fibre per 50 g, with no added sugar. Numbers let you compare us with anything on the shelf.

General information about food, not medical advice. We make no claim that AORAH products treat or prevent any condition.

Questions

Straight answers

Dark chocolate contains cacao, which provides fibre, minerals and natural flavanols and theobromine. It is also energy dense, so benefits come with portion sense. It is a treat first.

Not automatically. Vegan means no animal ingredients. Compare sugar, ingredients and portion size using the label.

Yes, a small amount along with theobromine. A 50 g dark bar is roughly 20 to 40 mg of caffeine, depending on cacao content.

Cocoa butter begins to melt at about 34 degrees Celsius, just below body temperature.

Both can contribute protein. Plant proteins such as pea work well in chocolate when balanced with fats and crunchy ingredients.
